Afua Kyei

Afua Kyei is the Bank of England’s Chief Financial Officer and is an Executive Director. She is responsible for financial governance of the Bank’s balance sheet of £1 trillion. As CFO, she helps shape the Bank’s strategic outcomes and investment strategy. Afua is a Director of BoE’s quantitative easing vehicle, the APF, Alternative Liquidity Facility and the Covid Corporate Financing Facility Fund. Afua is co-Executive sponsor on D&I. She is also co-sponsor on the Bank’s Climate change financial disclosure. Afua joined the Bank in 2019 from Barclays Bank where she was the CFO of Mortgages in the Retail Bank division and held various Finance Director roles. Previously she was an Investment Banker and held various Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions roles. Afua qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAS) with Ernst & Young. She read Chemistry at Somerville College, Oxford University and was an Organic Chemistry junior fellow at Princeton University.
